Family fun event to benefit west suburban shelter
A New Orleans-style party with music, food and family fun will be held Saturday, Nov. 5, to benefit West Suburban PADS (Public Action to Deliver Shelter).
The event will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. at Grace Episcopal Church, 924 Lake St., Oak Park.
The BS Brass Band, specializing in New Orleans and Mardi Gras party music, will perform. Family activities include face-painting, crafts and a children’s costume corner. Refreshments include snacks, desserts, beer, wine and soda.
There is a $5 suggested donation ($20 maximum per family). New or gently used items of warm winter clothing for men, women or children will also be accepted.
The third annual benefit is sponsored by the Mystick Krewe of Laff Social Aid and Pleasure Club, a Chicago-area organization that promotes the art and culture of New Orleans and Louisiana. All proceeds benefit West Suburban PADS, which provides shelter, supportive services and job readiness to individuals and families in west suburban Cook County.
