This Summer Give Your Child A Taste of Japan Without Leaving The Country
CHICAGO, IL. June 15th, 2012: Want your child to experience a different culture without worrying about thousands of dollars spent on booking air tickets, hotels etc.? Discovery Language Program has just the perfect solution for you and your child - a Japanese Language Summer Camp!
Discovery Language Programs, a Chicago-based organization geared at providing foreign language enrichment programs to young students who want more out of their free time in the summer, is offering classes in Japanese language for two weeks, starting from July 16th-July 27th, Monday to Friday for two hours each day in Schaumburg, Illinois.
Open to students from K-2nd grade, the camp typically includes beginners who have an initial interest to learn a new language to those who want to be multi-linguist. To further complement their learning of second language, the camp curriculum incorporates cultural activities, games, songs, art and culinary projects with all activities conducted in Japanese language. The two week summer camp costs $265 and a full payment is accepted by the organization.
“Japanese is a flourishing language that is becoming widely used around the United States,” says Eva Michalski of Discovery Language Programs. “Our camps are designed for children to gain knowledge of and absorb the new language. Discovery Language Programs does this by incorporating games, repetition, and being immersed in the Japanese language for the duration of the camp. Participating in these programs at such a young age is essential for children and makes it effortless to pick up the language.”
Discovery Language Programs, which was formed by an international group of highly experienced educators in 1992, has been offering a fully developed, authentic, and highly qualified curriculum designed for English speaking children who have the desire to learn Spanish, French, German, Italian, Polish and Mandarin (Chinese).
Over the years, Discovery Language Programs’ summer camps have successfully given a large number of English speaking students a chance to be immersed in other cultures and become aware of multicultural issues. The organization also runs summer camps in three other languages, including French, German and Spanish. To learn more these summer camps, visit www.discovery-language.com.
Research has shown that learning a second language before adolescence is very fruitful. The brain’s ability to absorb increases with learning of more languages at young age. These children exhibit more native-line pronunciation and are more likely to become fluent speakers. Also, they experience enhanced cognitive development as well as socio cultural benefits which have a positive effect on child’s intellectual growth.
