The FCX South U16 boys soccer team, which includes representatives from York High School in Elmhurst, placed second in the 2012 Illinois State Cup played in Rockford over the past few weeks.

An Elite team with representatives from York High School, Lyons Township, Glenbard East, Oak Park-River Forest, Hinsdale Central and Ignatius have come together over the past two years to become one of the best in Illinois.

On the path to the final game, FCX South beat Strikers Fox Valley, Chicago Kickers, and FCX North, but eventually lost to Evanston in a tough final match.

The U16 Boys FCX South play their league games in the Midwest Regional League, where it sees the best teams in the Midwest.

J.J. Ruane, FCX Soccer director of coaching, said, "The league was good preparation for the state cup this year and will be a great test for the boys as they prepare for next year and beyond as they grow as soccer players."
