Firefighter Assaulted After Man's Son Hit by Car: Police

Oak Park police reports, March 20-21.

THURSDAY, MARCH 21

Garage Burglary

Someone broke into a garage in the 800 block of S. Humphrey and ransacked two cars, stealing a wallet containing $160 and miscellaneous tools. The estimated loss was $980. the burglary occurred between 6:30 p.m. March 20 and 6:41 a.m. March 21.

Firefighter Assaulted

Franklin Jackson, 45, of the 900 block of S. Lyman in Oak Park, was charged with battery to a firefighter and aggravated assault following an incident in the 100 block of Harrison Street.

Police said Jackson's son was hit by a car while trying to cross Harrison Street, and while he was being treated Jackson shook a firefighter, demanding to know where the driver was who hit his son.

He was given a March 29 court date.

Middle Schooler Steals iPod

A juvenile was charged with theft after stealing an iPod from Brooks Middle School.

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 20

Wallet Stolen

Someone stole a wallet out of a purse in the 1100 block of Lake Street. The wallet contained $160 cash, a driver's license and credit cards. The estimated loss is $185.

Netflix Theft

A man was seen by a resident in the 1000 block of S. Austin stealing a Netflix DVD from the front porch. The offender fled after hearing the resident. He's described as a black male in his 20s, about 5-foot-4 and 150 pounds, and wearing a black coat, jeans and a red skull cap.

Teens Charged in Armed Robbery

Michael Davis, 17, of the 1200 block of N. Austin in Oak Park, and Joshua Smith, 17, of the 300 block of Chicago Avenue in Oak Park, were charged with attempted armed robbery in connection with the attempt, which occurred March 19 in the 400 block of N. East Avenue.
