Get Out: Wonka, Crafts, Hikes and Legal Night Swimming

Another weekend to get out and explore.

 

WILLY WONKA, KIDS!
When/Where: 7 p.m. Thursday; 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. Friday at Gwendolyn Brooks Middle School, 325. Kenilworth Ave.
Why Go: More than 50 kid actors and 20 crew members of the Junior Bravo Academy, an even-more-pint-sized version of the school's BRAVO performing arts academy, goes Oompa Loompa with this special performance.
Price: Tickets are $8 for adults and $6 for students; available by calling (708) 524-5621 or visiting the District 97 Web store.

JAZZ IN THE BISTRO
When/Where: 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday at Marion Street Cheese Market, 100 S. Marion St. in Oak Park.
Why Go: Enjoy some honest jazz music by the Barry Winograd-Jim Ryan Duo and choose from artisanal cheese plates, tempting menu selections and choice craft beer and wines.
Price: Free admission

MOONLIGHT FAMILY SWIM
When/Where: 8:45 p.m. to 10:15 p.m. Saturday at Rehm Pool, 515 Garfield St. in Oak Park.
Why Go: Swimming under the stars, discounted concession treats and family games — what's not to like?
Price: $9 per person; free for seasonal pool pass holders

CONSTRUCTOR CRAFT FAIR
When/Where: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at FitzGerald's, 6615 W. Roosevelt Road in Berwyn.
Why Go: "The baddest craft throw down this side of the west side" will feature more than 40 vendors displaying homemade crafts. Sponsored by Fly Bird and Sheriff Peanut.
Price: Free admission; free swag bag for first 50 guests.

WOODLAND RAMBLE
When/Where: 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Hal Tyrell Nature Museum, 738 Thatcher Ave. in River Forest.
Why Go: Get up close and personal with plant life, moss and insects in this family-friendly stroll through the woods.
Price: Free; registration required. Call 708-366-6530.
