The showings are part of the theater's 75th anniversary film series, which brings movie classics from the year 1936 back to their original big-screen splendor.
San Francisco, directed by Woody Van Dyke, is set during that city's devastating 1906 earthquake. Here's how the theatre describes the film:
Barbary Coast saloonkeeper and gambler “Blackie” Norton (Gable) has hired an impoverished, classically trained singer (MacDonald) to perform at his club, where she becomes a star attraction. Thought to be somewhat overdone, the film is a gripping tale of passion and adventure in the West with wonderful special effects including a finale consisting of historic earthquake footage.
Screenings begin at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. Monday. Admission is $5 per person. The Lake Theatre's "Classic 1936 Film Series" will continue running on the second Monday of every month throughout the year. Up next:
