Man Escapes Emergency Room While in Police Custody
Oak Park police reports, March 6-7.
THURSDAY, MARCH 7
Someone broke a 72x40-inch window at a building in the 900 block of S. Oak Park Avenue sometime between 6 p.m. March 6 and 8:45 a.m. March 7.
Eric M. Shinal, 38, of the 900 block of Central in Chicago, was booked on a warrant for his arrest. He was given an April 1 court date.
Dylan T. Smith, 21, of the 2900 block of W. Westridge in Woodridge, was charged with burglary in connection to an incident in the 3100 block of W. Flournoy.
WEDNESDAY, MARCH 6
Man Escapes Emergency Room
Leroy Burton Jr., 45, of the 1800 block of S. 9th Avenue in Maywood, was charged with escape after he fled from the emergency room of Rush Oak Park Hospital at about 8:32 a.m. He was due for a bond hearing and in the custody of Oak Park police when he went to the hospital. Police said Burton Jr. was found within minutes and taken to his bond hearing.
Man Tries to Enter Basement
A man tried to enter someone's basement in the 700 block of Augusta, saying he was "Jose from J&J Company" and was doing plumbing work on behalf of the victim's neighbor. The neighbor said there wasn't any work being done, and the man fled on foot. The man was described as a white or Hispanic male in his early 40s, about 5-foot-7, of average build and with dark hair and a light beard. He was wearing a dark jacket and dark pants.
Someone scratched the trunk of a car parked in the 400 block of S. Maple. The estimated loss is $75.
An iPhone and $40 in cash were stolen from a gym locker after someone broke into his locker in the 1100 block of Lake Street. The estimated loss is $540.
