Marion Street, Get Ready to Munch

Healthy grab-and-go outlet to replace longtime French bakery.

Au revoir, Cafe Minou. Hello, Munch.

Renovations are under way at the former home of , a French bakery doing business in Oak Park for nearly 25 years.

With new exterior and interior paint, new lighting and the addition of a counter, the space at 104 N. Marion St. appears to be getting a complete overhaul.

Officials with Downtown Oak Park say the new spot will be called Munch and will feature "healthy, intriguing" locally sourced vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free and cruelty-free foods. 

The focus will be on fresh carry out items.

With a rotating art exhibit highlighting works from local artists, the vibe should be "casual, artsy and comfortable," officials said.

Whenever it opens, Munch will be the second new food-based business on Marion Street to debut recently. Earlier this month, nearby .

Just down the street, the space vacated by Lido's Caffe will take on a Pan Asian restaurant called Seasons, according to Wednesday Journal.
