Oak Park Police to Sell 80 Unclaimed Bikes

Bikes seized by the cops and never claimed by their owners will be resold to the community for between $30 and $100 per bike.

Need an inexpensive bike? How about one with a mystery past and time spent in the slammer?

The Oak Park Police Department will hold a bike sale from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Sep. 29, to dispose of 80 bikes that have been seized by the Department, but remain unclaimed by their owners. The sale will be held at 260 Madison St.

Bikes range from $30 to $100 per bike and are of various sizes, types and conditions. Each person may buy one bike max; each household, two.

Payment is by cash or check and all sales are final.

For more information, call the Oak Park Police Department at 708-386-3800, or e-mail police@oak-park.us.

Why did this article on the Police Bike Auction appear in my inbox on September 13 if the auction was on September 9?

I just called the police department and the sale is on the 29th not the 9th.

My goof. It's the 29th; the "2" ran away somewhere. Thanks for the catch.
