Parking Restrictions Lifted in Oak Park, River Forest during Holiday Season
Permits not needed to park on the streets over the next two weeks.
Here's one thing you're not going to need to remember if you have family coming into town over the holidays: a permit to park on the street.
Both Oak Park and River Forest have lifted overnight parking restrictions during the holiday.
A main exception, of course, is on snow routes if more than two inches of the white stuff falls.
Here are the times and dates to remember.
Overnight on-street parking will be in effect from 2:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 22 to 2:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013. Call the overnight parking line, 708-358-7275, after 8 p.m. Jan. 2 if an overnight permit is needed.
This directive does not apply to:
- Metered parking.
- Overnight parking areas, such as Village-owned lots, on-street enclaves or on-street overnight parking zones.
- Override any other parking restrictions including all daytime posted restrictions and regulations related to traffic and public safety priorities.
Residents who will be out of town for the holiday and require 24-hour parking should consider parking in a village-owned structure for the posted daily parking rate or call 708-358-7275 (option 4) in advance of the holiday for more information.
Overnight, on-street parking restrictions will be lifted at 12:01 a.m. Friday, Dec. 21 and end at 12:01 a.m. Wednesday Jan. 2, 2013., If guests will be here on Tuesday night through Wednesday morning, residents will need to call 708-366-7125 after 8 p.m. Jan. 2 for a permit.
