Want to report a crime? There's gonna be an app for that too.

The Cook County Sheriff's Police annoucned that by Feb. 1 they will roll out a new crime reporting app called iWatchCookCounty.

This app will let folks get local crime information and submit tips to law enforcement on their cell phones. It will be provided free of charge by the Cook County Sheriff's Department, AppsZoom reported.

The county hopes to use the program to serve as a crime-fighting clearing house for local police departments, according to CBSChicago.

By simply clicking on the iWatchCookCounty app icon, someone can submit a tip. The mobile app lets folks report on crimes they have seen, or as they happen. Users also can upload text messages, email, static images, or video for police, including pictures of criminals and criminal activity.

All reporting can be made anonymously.

The new app will be available for iPhones version 3 and up, iPads, Android and Windows tables and phones. You can also report suspicious activity on the website, which also will be live on Feb. 1, a spokesman for the Cook County Sheriff's Police said.
