Weed Arrests, Locker Theft at OPRF: Police Blotter
Oak Park police reports, March 12-15.
FRIDAY, MARCH 15
Someone broke into a garage in the 700 block of Lyman between 11 p.m. March 14 and 12:30 a.m. March 15, then broke the driver's side window and stole a Garmin GPS unit, two cell phone charges and a Kia iPhone radio adapter. The estimated loss was $535.
Another garage was burglarized in the 700 block of S. Humphrey between 10 p.m. at 12:32 a.m. The burglar entered an unlocked service door, then broke the driver's side window and ransakced the interior. The estimated damage was $180.
Chasity S. Wright, 36, of Albany, IN, was charged with trespassing and property damage after being removed from a property in the 500 block of S. Humphrey and told not to come back. Police said Wright returned and broke a window pane in an attempt to break in at 4 a.m. She was released on bail.
OPRF Locker Theft
An Oak Park-River Forest High School student said a cell phone and iPod were stolen from his unlocked gym locker around 8 a.m. The estimated loss was $750.
Weed Possession at OPRF
Two Oak Park juveniles, one male and one female, were charged with possession of marijuana and released to their parents after police he was found with weed at Oak Park-River Forest High School.
A 16-year-old from River Forest was also charged with weed possession a few blocks away from the school in the 500 block of N. Scoville.
Darryl Fleming, 37, of the 4900 block of Ferdinand in Chicago, was charged with retail theft in the 200 block of Lake Street. He was held in lieu of bond.
Carol White, 48, of the 900 block of Bellwood Avenue in Bellwood, was charged with felony retail theft in the 400 block of N. Harlem.
Dorian Smith-Ward, 19, of the 100 block of S. Kenilworth in Oak Park, was charged with criminal trespassing at about 9 p.m. in the 100 block of Madison Street. He was released on bond.
THURSDAY, MARCH 14
Kirk J. O'Connor, 41, of the 600 block of Romeo Road in Romeoville, was booked on an active warrant out of Berwyn.
Someone stole a purse from a restaurant in the 100 block of N. Harlem when it was left unattended in a booth. The estimated loss was $65.
WEDNESDAY, MARCH 13
A garage door in the 700 block of S. Humphrey was damaged using a prying tool sometime between 4 p.m. and and 7 p.m.
Someone broke into a garage in the 700 block of S. Humphrey and then ransacked the car inside, causing $180 of damage and stealing the garage door opener. The burglary occurred between 6:30 p.m. March 12 and 2 p.m. March 13.
TUESDAY, MARCH 12
Someone stole a $200 cement planter from the porch of a home in the 200 block of S. Maple.
Ten feet of copper downspout was stolen from a home in the 1200 block of Fair Oaks. The estimated loss was $800.
