Hi!! My name is Dharma and I haven't had an easy life. Before arriving at ACL with my kittens, I was brought to another shelter by animal control. I don't remember much, but they said that they found me with my kittens in an alley. I was very sick and since they did not have a Vet on staff that could take care of me, they called ACL to ask if I could be transferred there. Luckily, ACL was able to take me and my kittens. When I arrived, I was severely dehydrated and had to be put on fluids immediately. Because of this, I could not properly feed my babies and the wonderful staff at ACL took my kittens and placed them into foster care. My kittens were then able to eat and thrive. I was able to get much needed rest and I was nursed back to health. I was very frightened and it took some time to feel comfortable around people. Once I realized that the staff at ACL was just trying to help me, I began to trust again and feel comfortable. I am proud to say that all of my kittens have been adopted and have moved on to their forever homes. I do have to admit, I have a shy personality and it still takes me a while to trust someone new. Once I feel safe, I am extremely affectionate. I need a family that will be willing to have patience with me and help me to adjust to a new home. I get along well with other respectful felines and I would do well in a multi-cat household. I also wouldn't mind being your one and only kitty. I would do best in a quiet household with older respectful children. I think I have been at ACL for so long because of my shy personality. I know that I'm not as outgoing as the other cats here at ACL, but I'm really trying. I've been at ACL for over 300 days now. In that time, I've watched 676 very lucky animals find their forever families. Each day I hope that it will be my lucky day. I often think of my kittens and try to imagine what it's like for them in their homes with families that love them. This makes me a very happy Mom but I long for the day that my forever family finds me and takes me home too.
