Village President Abu-Taleb to Host Community Forum

Also good to know for the upcoming week: The new CTA passes for students are available at the OPRFHS book store; Village President hosting community forum; District 200 proposed budget available for public viewing.

District 200 budget on display: Oak Park and River Forest High School District 200 has posted its proposed FY 2014 budget online for public viewing until a Sept. 26 public hearing. 

District 200 board meeting: (6-9 p.m.) Dr. Allan Alson, the District's strategic planning consultant, presented the Board of Education with a draft of the strategic plan at its regular meeting on June 27, 2013. The draft was created over the course of nine months by a 60-member steering committee and five task forces. The Board is holding a series of meetings to thoroughly consider the plan before voting on accepting a final version, which likely will occur mid-year. These meetings are open to the public, and all are welcome to attend.

Last day to add classes at OPRF: The last day to add classes is Aug. 30. 

New CTA student passes: The new Ventra Student Riding Permits have just arrived in the OPRF Bookstore. Cost: $5 cash.

U.S. Rep. Danny Davis (D-7th District) Town Hall: Rep. Davis on Tuesday will host a town hall meeting from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., where he will discuss a variety of topics with the public. The agenda includes the Affordable Care Act, the economy, global affairs, domestic surveillance, immigration and any other issue that residents might bring to the table. The meeting will be in Council Chamber of Village Hall, 123 Madison St. For more information, call 708.345.6857.

Village President Anan Abu-Taleb will also hold a public meeting: Join Village President Anan Abu-Taleb and Village Trustee Robert Tucker at the first Community Forum in the Veteran's Room of the Main Library on August 28th, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Residents are invited to take this opportunity to share their thoughts, concerns and ideas with him, other elected officials, and fellow residents in this and future forums.
