District 200 board meeting: (6-9 p.m.) Dr. Allan Alson, the District's strategic planning consultant, presented the Board of Education with a draft of the strategic plan at its regular meeting on June 27, 2013. The draft was created over the course of nine months by a 60-member steering committee and five task forces. The Board is holding a series of meetings to thoroughly consider the plan before voting on accepting a final version, which likely will occur mid-year. These meetings are open to the public, and all are welcome to attend.

U.S. Rep. Danny Davis (D-7th District) Town Hall: Rep. Davis on Tuesday will host a town hall meeting from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., where he will discuss a variety of topics with the public. The agenda includes the Affordable Care Act, the economy, global affairs, domestic surveillance, immigration and any other issue that residents might bring to the table.
