Those numbers might go up as a recent survey shows one in three Americans are willing to move, hoping of find a better job market or a lower cost of living than where they are now.

The national homeownership rate fell to 65 percent for the second quarter of 2013 from 69.2 percent in 2004. Additionally, one in three Millennails are choosing to stay at home with their parents as opposed to buying their own place in the face of very little job prospects, low wages, large student debt and health insurance costs.

The map shows a snapshot of the median household income and the percentage of veterans in the area. Nationally, veterans appeared to be faring better than most civilians during the recovery - at least in earnings. The median income for male veterans was at $35,725 and at $30,540 for female veterans. Compare that to civilian males and females which were $30,822 and $20,634 respectively.
