D97 to Vote on iPad Rollout at Aug. 20 Meeting

Also good to know today: Info nights and welcome back picnics planned at District 97 schools, Divvy bike share program could come to Oak Park, Groov'n in the Grove is tonight in Forest Park and Fuego Loco is having a fundraiser.

Oak Park Elementary School District 97 board meets at 7 p.m.: The board will vote on its plan to buy iPads to implement its 1:1 technology plan starting this fall. The board will also vote on a resolution to purchase and install 79 exterior security cameras at its eight elementary schools. Read more: District 97 Plans iPad Rollout, Parent Communication.

Tonight is also the night for info sessions at a few District 97 schools, including:

  • Brooks and Julian middle schools: Information/fee night for 7th and 8th graders, 4-7 p.m. (Julian)
  • Whittier Elementary School: PTO information center, 10:30 a.m. and school tour for new families, 10 a.m.
  • Mann Elementary School: Welcome Back Picnic, 5-7 p.m.
  • Longfellow Elementary School: Kindergarten popsicles on the playground, 5:30-6:30 p.m.

Fundraiser to benefit Oak-Leyden: Fuego Loco, 722 Lake St. in Oak Park, is hosting a fundraiser today for Oak-Leyden Developmental Services and will be donating 20 percent of all bills to the organization. 

Groov'n in the Grove is Aug. 20! Grab a blanket, pack a picnic and head over to Groov'n in the Grove from 7-10 tonight at the Picnic Grove, 7824 Madison St. Forest Park. The village event will feature a concert, concessions and beverages for sale and free concert. For more information, call the Community Center at 708-771-7737.
