End-of-Season Pool Schedule Starts Today, OPRF Tryouts Wednesday

Also good to know this week: OPRFHS fall sports tryouts start Wednesday; Microbrew Review, Arts & Crafts Show and Wright Ride are this weekend; D90 class assignments mailed Thursday.

Monday

End-of-season pool schedule starts today: at Rehm Park start today, meaning the pool will close earlier and have shorter hours until it closes Sept. 2 (see schedule above).

Perseids meteor shower: NASA is predicting a spectacular showing of the Perseids meteor shower tonight and tomorrow.

OPRFHS: Board meets Monday night.

Wednesday

Sports tryouts at OPRF: Fall sports tryouts start today at Oak Park and River Forest High School. Go to the school's website for more information.

Thursday

D90 class assignments: They'll be mailed Thursday, Aug. 15

Thursday Night Out: 5-9 p.m., featuring live music and great deals on food

Friday

Third Friday: Oak Park Arts District hosts monthly "Third Friday" events, with special events in Arts District businesses from 6-10 p.m.

Free back-to-school event: 
The Living Word Christian Center, 7600 W. Roosevelt Rd. in Forest Park, will host "Back 2 School @ the Spot," starting at 7 p.m. in the parking lot (on the side of the main sanctuary, near Walmart). The free event will include food, basketball, giveaways and a concert. For more information visit www.gohardforchrist.com.

OPRFHS parking: 
Permits are still available for purchase for $240 until Friday, Aug. 16.
