Frank Lloyd Wright's first independent commission, the William Winslow House, is officially on the market, listed for $2.4 million.

Frank Lloyd Wright's first independent commission, the William Winslow House, is officially on the market, realtor Pam Tilton said Tuesday. 

Built in 1893, the Winslow House, 515 Auvergne Pl. in River Forest, went on the market Monday, Dec. 16, with a $2.4 million asking price. It's the first time since the late 1950s that the home has been for sale.

The 5,036-square-foot house has five bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms. The property also includes a soon-to-be three-car garage with a one-bedroom apartment, and a third-floor bonus room.

With nooks and benches in almost every room, the home was "built for entertaining," said Peter Walker, who grew up in the home and prepped it to sell after his mother's death in April.
