One of my favorite things about Oak Parkers, so far, is their willingness to help out the new kid on the block. If I have a question for you, you answer it.
Last week, before the very exciting start of football season, I asked readers on our Facebook page:
"If I were to go watch the Chicago Bears game tomorrow at a bar in Oak Park, where should I go? I want some kind of special, a really good burger or breakfast sandwich, and to sit at a table (not stand)."
(Hold on—did you know we have a Facebook page? It's awesome! You should definitely pause for a hot second to hit 'like'.) The response was overwhelmingly in support of The Kinderhook Tap. Nine people suggested it. However, Dave said the TVs at Kinderhook are too small. So, if that's a turnoff for you, find a place with bigger TVs.
Four people recommended Poor Phil's. Elizabeth says it has the best beer selection, and Dave said they make the best burger he's ever tasted—ever!
Two people recommended Avenue Ale House, but bad reviews from two others canceled them out, calling it a "brutal" spot with mediocre service.
Elizabeth said, "Go to the ale house if you want to wait 45 minutes for mediocre service that will screw up your order."
I don't like waiting 45 minutes. But, I didn't have to when I went to Ale House.
One person recommended Bar Louie, though another said he doesn't care for the place. We also got recommendations for Kevil's, O'Sullivan's and The Friendly Tap in Forest Park.
