February is for Lovers - Rescued Rabbit Lovers

Animal Care League has a soft spot when it comes to companion bunnies.  It doesn’t matter if they’re a Rex, a Mini Lop, a Lionhead or a Flemish Giant, rabbits are increasingly making their way into the hearts of animal lovers.  That’s why ACL is celebrating the efforts of House Rabbit Society by finding homes for rescue rabbits.

It’s a labor of love, but ACL has additional support from their adoption partners at Petco in River Forest (7265 W. Lake Street).  On Sunday, February 16 from 12 – 3pm, ACL and Petco and co-sponsoring a special Bunny-Only Adoption Event.

All month long interested adopters can do “meet and greets” at the shelter (1011 Garfield, Oak Park) or at Petco, River Forest.   ACL has also made arrangements with local open access shelters and rabbit rescue groups to transfer in additional animals when space is scarce.

The shelter has also taken the extra step to provide specific education for their adoption counselors on “Bunnies 101” to accommodate the higher volume of inquiries.

This is a month-long campaign to benefit ACL’s cotton-tailed friends.  If anyone is interested in adopting a rabbit, they should visit the ACL website (www.animalcareleague.org) often to see the new faces that will capture your heart.
