Dominican University’s
Main Campus has been named the second most beautiful campus in America
according to Ranker.com, a social consumer web platform. Dominican followed St.
Olaf College (MN) and was ranked higher by voters than Macalester College (MN),
Pepperdine University (CA), University of Washington, Sewanee: The University
of the South (TN), Kenyon College (OH), University of Mississippi, Scripps
College (CA) and Colgate University (NY).

Ranker.com is a website designed
around collaborative and individual list-making and voting. The website posts
Top 10 lists on a variety of subjects about which readers can register their
opinions.

 Dominican’s bucolic campus
was designed in 1922 by renowned collegiate Gothic architect Ralph Adams Cram,
who also designed buildings at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and Princeton
University as well as the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York City and
Fourth Presbyterian Church on Michigan Avenue in Chicago. The university has
made great efforts to ensure that more recently designed buildings, including
Sister Jean Murray Hall and Parmer Hall, maintain the campus’ signature Gothic
ambiance.

Founded in 1901, Dominican University is a comprehensive,
coeducational Catholic institution offering bachelor’s degrees through the
Rosary College of Arts and Sciences and master’s degrees through the Graduate
School of Library and Information Science, the Brennan School of Business, the
School of Education, the Graduate School of Social Work and the School of
Professional and Continuing Studies. The university also offers a doctoral
degree in library and information science. In the 2013 issue of America’s Best Colleges, U.S. News &
World Report
ranked Dominican University in the top 20 of Midwest regional
universities. The prestigious magazine also ranked Dominican as one of three
Great Schools at a Great Price in Illinois.
