Community Corner

Abu-Taleb, Hedges and Ott Host Community Forum

Village President Anan Abu-Taleb, Village Trustee Andrea Ott and OPEDC Executive Director John Hedges invite Oak Park residents to attend a community forum on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the Veterans Room at the Main Library, 834 Lake Street.

“I invite all Oak Parkers to come and discuss local issues that they are concerned about,” said President Abu-Taleb. “Your feedback at past forums has helped me and the Board shape our direction on a number of issues, including economic development and parking issues.”

Previous forums have allowed for lively discussion and engagement between residents, President Abu-Taleb, and his various co-hosts, which have included Village Trustees Bob Tucker, Adam Salzman and Peter Barber, and Township Assessor Ali ElSaffar.  President Abu-Taleb and these public officials all welcomed the opportunity to have a real discussion with residents, rather than the more formal public comment sessions during Board meetings.

This is the fifth public forum held by President Abu-Taleb since he took office a year ago and the second in 2014.  “I am committed to continuing these forums as a part of my promise to create a more transparent and engaged government that not only listens to the residents of Oak Park, but responds,” he said.
