Celebrating Seniors Holds Volunteer Information Event on October 17th

Celebrating Seniors, an organization that honors and supports those who are 60 years and older, is hosting an informational session on Thursday, October 17th for those interested in volunteering with the group.

The half-hour meeting will begin at 7 p.m. in the Community Room of the River Forest Public Library, 735 Lathrop Ave. Refreshments will be served as representatives of Celebrating Seniors share background about the group, its future direction and opportunities to help in any capacity.

Earlier this year, the group organized the third annual Celebrating Seniors Week consisting of 50 events over a one-week span in May that ranged from a display of hot rods and other cool cars on Madison in Forest Park to a gamut of seminars and other fun events. The events were held in Oak Park, River Forest and Forest Park.

Since its creation, the Celebrating Seniors Coalition in Oak Park, River Forest and Forest Park has raised funds to aid seniors in crisis.

Its other objectives have been to facilitate cooperation among the business community, government agencies and non-profit organizations for the benefit of the senior population; to promote senior groups and organizations that serve persons 60 and older; and to raise public awareness of issues affecting seniors.
