Dominican University presents children's author Jane Yolen

Dominican University’s Graduate School of Library and Information Science will present award-winning children’s author Jane Yolen in the second annual Butler Lecture on Wednesday, February 26 at 6 p.m. The lecture, which is sponsored by Dominican’s Butler Children’s Literature Center, will be held in the Martin Recital Hall, 7900 W. Division Street, River Forest. A reception will follow the lecture and books will be available for signing.

Jane Yolen, one of most revered children’s authors in the country, will deliver a lecture titled “Folklore vs. Fakelore: The Truth About Folk, Fairy, and Fantasy Stories.” The author of over 300 books of fantasy, folklore and poetry for children and teens, Yolen has received two Christopher Awards, two Nebula Awards and the World Fantasy Award, and two  of her books have received Caldecott Awards.

Yolen’s work includes the popular Pit Dragon chronicles and the How Do Dinosaurs…? series, including How Do Dinosaurs Say Good Night?, and How Do Dinosaurs Say I Love You?. She is also the author of Owl Moon, which won a 1998 Caldecott Medal for illustrator John Schoenherr and The Emperor and the Kite, which won the 1968 Caldecott Award for Ed Young.
