Dominican University presents Rev. Ed Bacon of Oprah's Soul Series

Dominican University will present a lecture titled “8 Habits of Love” by renowned reverend and peace advocate Ed Bacon on Thursday, October 3. The lecture will be held at 6:30 p.m. in the Martin Recital Hall, 7900 W. Division Street, River Forest.

Bacon is the rector of All Saints Church in Pasadena, CA, a 4,000-member, multiethnic, urban, Episcopal parish with a reputation for energetic worship, a radically inclusive spirit and a progressive peace and justice agenda. He is a founder of Beyond Inclusion and Claiming the Blessing, an organization of Episcopalians devoted to healing the rift between sexuality and spirituality in the Church and promoting justice for the LGBT community, and a co-founder of the Abrahamic Faiths Peacemaking Initiative. He serves on Human Rights Watch California Committee South and other national and community boards.

Guest appearances on Oprah’s Soul Series, Oprah Radio and The Oprah Winfrey Show led Bacon to a regular role as guest host on Oprah’s Soul Series and contributor on Oprah.com.

His first book, 8 Habits of Love: Open Your Heart, Open Your Mind, was published in September 2012 by Grand Central. The book is a spiritual guide to living life through love and connection instead of fear and isolation. His lecture will focus on these transformative habits. After the lecture, Bacon will answer questions from the audience, then sign copies of his book.

The event is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Cathy Cassani Adams, adjunct professor of sociology at Dominican, at cadams@dom.edu
