Village President Anan Abu-Taleb and Township Assessor Ali ElSaffar Announce First Public Forum of 2014

Village President Anan Abu-Taleb and Oak Park Township Assessor Ali ElSaffar invite Oak Park residents to attend a community forum on Saturday, February 22nd from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the Veterans Room at the Main Library, 834 Lake Street.

February’s meeting will focus on property tax issues and the Board’s recent efforts to enhance the economic vitality of Oak Park. “In the last year, we have reformed the way the Village does business, creating the first ever customer service department and a new Economic Development Corporation,” said President Abu-Taleb. “I want to talk to Oak Park’s residents, hear their feedback and engage in a real discussion about the opportunities facing our Village.”

This forum will provide residents an opportunity to learn how those reforms will impact their tax bill. “The property tax process is complex,” added ElSaffar. “I welcome this opportunity to help Oak Park residents understand how their property taxes are assessed, collected and used.”

This is the fourth public forum held by President Abu-Taleb and the first in 2014. This new year of forums is part of Abu-Taleb’s commitment to creating a more transparent and engaged government that not only listens to the residents of Oak Park, but responds. Previous forums helped shape the Board’s direction on a number of issues including developments at Lake & Forest and parking regulations. This forum will provide similar opportunities on tax related issues.
