Who Owns My Genes? A Screening of "In the Family"

The Health Sciences Division Humanities Forum presents: Who Owns My Genes? A Screening of “In the Family” from 5 – 7 p.m. on Monday, April 24, 2014, in Marcella Niehoff School of Nursing, Room 0505.

Joanna Rudnick’s Emmy-nominated documentary “In the Family” is a deeply personal story about coming to terms with having a “breast cancer gene” mutation. A patient advocate-filmmaker, Rudnick screened “In the Family” on Capitol Hill as part of an effort to successfully pass the Genetic Information Non-Discrimination Act. Her work also was leveraged by the ACLU and defendants in a Supreme Court case that resulted in invalidating dangerous BRCA gene patents.

All faculty, students and staff are invited to attend this special finale to the inaugural Health Sciences Division Humanities Forum.
