An Opportunity to Give Back During Back-to-School Season: For families who want to give back during this year’s back-to-school season, Oak Park non-profit Sarah’s Inn is hosting a school supply drive for families in crisis. Sarah’s Inn provides counseling, support groups, and safety planning to hundreds of children and teens annually who witness domestic violence. Donations received at the school supply drive will help stabilize the educational needs of children and teens as their families seek safety.

Come Meet Clementine at Animal Care League: Clementine is a beautiful and active 6-month-old looking for an owner who is willing to give her daily exercise and mental stimulation. 

The Sugar Beet Co-op Edible Garden Tour is Growing (pun intended): It all started with a curiosity and eagerness to learn how to grow my own food (without making a lot of mistakes).  I'd ride my bike around Oak Park and notice trellises teaming with grapes and berries and through the slats of wooden fences I would spy manicured raised beds brimming with squash, beans and tomatoes.

Girl Scouts of Greater Chicago and Northwest Indiana honored their accomplishments during a special ceremony on June 8, 2013, at the Hilton Rosemont Hotel.
