App Helps 'L' Riders Avoid Sleeping Through Stop

The developer plans to add Metra trains next.

Ever miss your train stop because you were too engrossed in a book to notice it was time to get up, or so worried that you’d miss your stop that you opted not to take a little snooze? Guess what, there’s now an app for that.

Chicagoan Alex Zielonko, an aspiring computer programmer, has created ‘L’ert, an iPhone app that will vibrate or make a noise when it’s your stop, according to DNAinfo. He plans to expand to Metra trains next, along with CTA bus routes.

L’ert is free and has three five-star reviews so far. Commuters pick a train line, then a stop and ask for a vibration and/or sound just before arrival.

The idea grew out of Zielonko’s own experience missing his stop when he fell asleep on the train, DNAinfo reports.
