Green Tours to Teach Residents Sustainable Living Practices

Green Community Connections hosts the 2nd annual Green Living and Learning Tour on Saturday, Sept. 29. Attendees can learn practices to help you lead a more sustainable life and see interesting green projects going on around town.

Over 20 tour sites and demonstrations will be available to area residents this weekend who are interested in living a more sustainable and environmentally friendly life.

Hosted by Green Community Connections, the 2nd annual Green Living and Learning Tour will take participants around Oak Park and River Forest and show them sustainable living practices relating to energy, food, waste and water.

There's a lot to learn and see. It's amazing what people are putting their minds to the area, including a home that's being renovated to include a green cooling system and an Oak Park beekeeper that will be showing off his hives. You can even attend a demonstration about canning fruits and vegetables to make the produce from your farmers market trips last all year long.

There's so much to do and see at this event, you'll want to take a look at the schedule and make your choices beforehand. You can view a schedule and map of the events and tours, here.

Attending the tours and demonstrations will cost $10 for up to five tours/demonstrations. Don't worry about what to do with the kids: they get in for free. You can register and pay for the event, here.
