LemonAid 2013 Raises $30K for Oak-Leyden

Oak-Leyden Developmental Services will get about $30,000 for a new playground from the proceeds of the 2013 Bonnie Brae 9/11 charity lemonade stand.

An event that started as a quiet lemonade stand on Bonnie Brae in River Forest in 12 years has become one that generates thousands, and attracts people from all edges of the Chicago area—including Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn.

Proceeds from this year's event will go to Oak-Leyden Developmental Services in Oak Park to fund a new playground for their Children's Services Program. Their goal was to raise $27,000, and, according to a post on the event Facebook page, Oak-Leyden will receive about $30,000.

The inaugural Bonnie Brae 9/11 Charity "LemonAid" Stand was organized to honor the fallen after 9/11, and has donated proceeds to a different organization each year, raising more than $73,000 in the first 11 years.
