Low-Flying Choppers in Forest Park?

Training exercise conducted Wednesday.

Forest Park residents, did you notice those low-flying helicopters buzzing just over the Altenheim building and rumbling the neighborhood with noise?

Police officials in Forest Park say it's a training exercise. They wouldn't say much else.

"The only thing I can tell you is that it’s a training exercise between the United States military and the Forest Park Police Department," a Forest Park police official tells Patch.

The loud rumblings began around 9 p.m. Wednesday, drawing dozens of residents out from their homes. Many spectators ended up on Van Buren Street, just outside the entrance of the Altenheim In The Park independent living facility to watch the dark helicopters hover.
