Man Charged After Bus Stop Solicitation

Authorities say Oak Park man's approach of 10-year-old girl earns him criminal charges.

An Oak Park man has been criminally charged after trying to pull off what authorities initially described as a child abduction attempt.

Marcus Boyd, 30, was charged with disorderly conduct after he was identified as the driver of a red, 2008 Lincoln Town Car that approached a 10-year-old student standing at a bus stop at Washington Boulevard and Humphrey Avenue around 7:30 a.m. Thursday.

The girl told police She then ran into the lobby of the nearby apartment building where she resides before returning with other students to the stop, where the man drove by a few more times.

Police Cmdr. LaDon Reynolds said authorities didn't have enough to pursue attempted child abduction charges against Boyd, who resides in the 0-100 block of Washington Boulevard.
