Oaktoberfest Weekend Welcomes in Fall

Oaktoberfest offers something for the whole family.

Oaktoberfest in Oak Park welcomed in the fall season with a host of microbrews, local food and live music.

Restaurant booths lined the downtown area, many firing up their grills as people trickled in throughout the weekend festival.

The variety offered something for everybody, from barbecue and Italian to Indian and Chinese.

As the food was heating up and patrons were chowing down, live music from a full roster of musicians rang throughout downtown and the craft beer flowed.

Jack Rolfe of Plainfield said he was "pleasantly surprised" with the festival.

His wife Naomi Rolfe said it was their first time attending Oaktoberfest and they came out to see Reyna Larson perform live on Friday.

While grabbing a quick bite to eat with his two sons, Steve Crilly of Oak Park said his family has attended the Oaktoberfest the last couple of years.

Kids enjoyed crafts, karaoke and the popular root beer garden.

"On Saturdays it's a lot of fun," Crilly said. "They have kids stuff set up."
