Over 60 Campout in Priory Park for Zero Waste Campout

Campers enjoyed s'mores, campfire stories and music at Priory Park on Sept. 28 for the Zero Waste Campout.

65 people—about 25 families—turned out for an outdoor campout in Priory Park in River Forest on Friday evening to enjoy music under the stars, campfire stories and smores.

"I think it was a really great turnout for the first year of the event," said Ross Roloff, a member of the River Forest Parks Foundation and organizer of the night's event. "You couldn't have asked for a better night."

Skies were clear and the air just crisp enough for a perfect camping experience as fall approaches.

Attendees got a late night snack and a complimentary breakfast, provided by Whole Foods.

According to Roloff, the night was about bringing families together to experience camping right in their backyard.

"We wanted it to be fun and educational for the kids," he said.

Roloff said he'd like to have a second event next year, so if you missed this one, you'll get another opportunity to campout next year.
