Parks Officials to Vote on $42K Greenhouse Restoration Contract

Board to vote Oct. 24 on contract for greenhouse restoration with hopes of beginning project in February, Oak Leaves reports.

Park District of Oak Park officials will vote Oct. 24 on a $42,000 contract for restoration design at the Cheney Mansion greenhouse, Oak Leaves reported Friday

The park district hopes to start the project in February and complete work between May and October, according to Oak Leaves. To start, though, the district will need approval from the Oak Park Preservation Committee.

The greenhouse is used by the gardening staff to grow many of Cheney's plantings from seed. Each year, the gardeners raise the many plants for Cheney's Plant & Herb Sale, which provides funding for future gardening projects, according to the mansion website.
