River Forest Police Blotter: Animals Astray, Death Threats Received

Pot busts and DUI charges also reported.

The following items are taken from daily summary reports. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

DUI Charge: Daniel Funchess, 50, of 2940 22nd Place in North Chicago, was charged with drunken driving in the 1100 block of Lake Street on Sunday, March 6, police said.

DUI Charge:
Robert D. Fowler, 44, of 1041 N. Clinton Ave. in Oak Park, was charged with drunken driving after he struck a pedestrian with his vehicle near the intersection of Lathrop Avenue and Madison Street on Saturday, March 5, police said.

Marijuana Possession: Brandon L. Green, 29, of 7770 W. Madison St., was charged with marijuana possession at Puff's Discount Cigarettes, 7756 Madison St., on Saturday, March 5, police said.

Burglary: A Nikon camera and an Illinois FOID card were stolen from a residence in the 1300 block of Jackson Avenue between Friday, March 4 and Saturday, March 5.

Public Indecency: A man police have identified as a university employee was found hiding in a women's bathroom and spying on a womn as she showered at Priory Campus, 7200 Division St., on Friday, March 4.

Clarification: A university spokeswoman said the man was not employed by Dominican but was an employee of a custodial service contracted by the university — a distinction not listed on police reports. She also said the man was caught spying on one woman and not multiple women as initially reported. 

Theft: Around eight feet of copper gutters, value unknown, were stolen from a residence in the 900 block of Jackson Avenue on Friday, March 4.

Marijuana Possession: Cynthia D. Spears, 38, of 5635 Mcdermott Dr. in Berkeley, was charged with possession of marijuana and driving on a suspended license near the intersection of Park and Chicago Avenues on Wednesday, March 2, police said.

Loose Raccoon:
An injured or just plain sleepy raccoon was spotted continually getting up and laying back down outside the back door of a residence in the 1000 block of Thatcher Avenue on Tuesday, March 1. The raccoon was last seen awake and breathing, though the caller was advised to call a private animal removal service to escort the animal home.

Loose Dog: A dog described only as “shaved” and “floppy” was spotted at large Tuesday, March 1, following students of , 1250 Ashland Ave., and weaving in and out of traffic. The dog's owner was told he would be ticketed if the dog keeps getting loose and disturbing students.

Theft: A six-foot copper downspout with an unknown value was stolen from a residence in the 600 block of Bonnie Brae Place between Feb. 25 and Tuesday, March 1.

Assault: On Feb. 28, a resident of the 600 block of Edgewood Place told police her son has been receiving death threats over YouTube, citing a specific date. No charges have been filed.

Burglary: Around $5 in change was stolen from an unlocked vehicle parked in the 600 block of Forest Avenue between Feb. 21 and Feb. 28.
