This is Benny - He Needs a Home

Want to give a pet a loving home? Here's how.

Each weekend, Patch will present a cat and a dog available for adoption through the Animal Care League in Oak Park.

Cats get Saturdays, dogs are on Sundays.

This is Benny, a nine-month-old Laborador Retriever mix. He's a handsome guy with a beautiful white coat. He's been bounced around from foster home to shelter to foster home for most of his 10 months of life, and as a result he lacks a lot of the confidence most dogs have by his age.

We're happy that he's thriving in his current foster home and becoming a much-loved temporary family member. He was adopted out and returned once because of excessive vocalization when left alone. However, we've since discovered that Benny adores other dogs and thrives with a canine companion. Therefore, it is a requirement that he go home with a canine brother or sister.

Now Benny's hoping that his forever home will provide him with the consistency and security he needs. He's currently attending obedience classes at the Barker Shop and learning his basic commands.

Benny would prefer an active home where he can get lots of exercise and playtime. He needs a home with children that are used to being around larger, active dogs.

Because Benny is much happier in his foster home, he can be viewed by appointment. Please call our Barker Shop location in LaGrange at (708) 354-0400 to schedule a time to visit.

You can visit some of Benny's pals at the ACL's office, 1011 Garfield St. For hours, call 708-848-8155.
