Vigilence is Important to Keep Oak Park Diverse

Forum focuses on 2010 Census and what it means for the village.

Oak Park continues to move in the right direction and remain a diverse community.

But now is the time to remain vigilant as regionally there are communities that are becoming more segregated, Rob Breymaier, the executive director of the , said during a public forum Wednesday on the 2010 U.S. Census.

Breymaier spoke to about 35 people who gathered to also find out how Oak Park can create new policies and programs to help toward that end.

“Folks said they were grateful to have the discussion in the community,” he said. “I am hopeful we can continue to have more of them. We can use them to learn from each other and use them as a catalyst for new policies and programs or improve the ones we have.”

A panel of local experts also addressed the audience during the forum “." The event, which was conducted at the , was sponsored by the Oak Park Regional Housing Center and the village’s Housing Programs Advisory Committee.
