Dominican University Book Club to Discuss Border Crossing
Dominican University's Book Club will discuss Pat Barker's Border Crossing on Tuesday, October 26 at 7:00 p.m. The discussion will be held in the Lewis Lounge located on the first floor of Lewis Hall, 7900 W. Division Street, River Forest.
Published in 2001, Border Crossing tells the disturbing story of child psychologist Tom Seymour and child murderer Danny Miller. As Tom and his wife Lauren walk along the deserted Newcastle waterfront, Tom notices a young man who throws himself into the icy current. Risking his own life, Tom manages to save the man only to discover that the young man is Danny Miller, who was sentenced to prison for murder at the age of ten. Tom was the expert witness at the trial. Now, released from prison, Danny asks Tom to help him sort out his life—starting with his past. While Tom grapples with his own troubles, he is lured, by suspicion, guilt, and curiosity, into a lonely, soul-searching reinvestigation of Danny's case.
