Mary Chapin Carpenter headlines President's Signature Concert at Dominican October 15

Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Mary Chapin Carpenter will take the stage for the President’s Signature Concert at Dominican University on Saturday, October 15 at 7:30 p.m. at Dominican’s Performing Arts Center.

Combining folk, country, acoustic, rock and blues, Carpenter has proven herself an artist for whom the conventional boundaries of the music business disappear. Professing a love for all kinds of music, her diverse influences come together in songs that speak to the most personal of life’s details as well as to the most universal.

Carpenter entered the major music scene in the late 1980s and has remained among the industry’s most popular and critically acclaimed voices since. In the 1990s, she became the only artist to garner four consecutive Grammy Awards for Best Female Country Vocal Performance. Her 1995 album, “Stones in the Road,” also won the Grammy that year for Best Country Album.

After a five-year hiatus from recording, Carpenter returned to the scene in the 2000s, releasing four studio albums and a Christmas album. Her 2007 release “The Calling” received a Grammy nomination in the traditional folk album category. “The Age of Miracles,” released in 2010, earned a Grammy nod in the contemporary folk album category and reached number one on the Billboard Folk Charts.

The warm acoustics and intimate atmosphere of the Lund Auditorium, located in Dominican’s Performing Arts Center, offers the perfect backdrop for Carpenter’s personal and reflective performance. The Performing Arts Center is located on Dominican’s Main Campus, 7900 Division Street in River Forest. Parking is free.
