OAKTOBERFEST

OAKTOBERFEST 2012 - SEPTEMBER 14th & 15th

Downtown Oak Park gears up for the 21st annual Oaktoberfest event on Friday, September 14th and Saturday, September 15th. This free two-day event will offer a premier music line up, seasonal menu items from Oak Park restaurants, specialty microbrews, and a children’s Root Beer Garden featuring the famous zucchini races and karaoke.

Slinky Armadillo and Uncle Billy Kid Show 12-2pm

LOCAL FOOD. Seasonal favorites and international specialties such as pulled pork sandwiches, smoked corn on the cob, brats, chicken kabobs and more from Luo’s Peking House, Mancini’s, Puree’s Pizza and Pasta, Golden Lamb, Khyber Pass, Jerusalem Cafe, Sugar Fixe, Barclay’s American Grille, Aripo’s Venezuelan Arepa House, and OPRF Chamber of Commerce.

MICROBREWS. Hand crafted microbrews will be offered, as well as a selection of fine wines from Marion Street Cheese Market. Beer or wine cost one $7 ticket, purchase three tickets and get free 22oz souvenir mug to add to the enjoyment and reduce waste.

The Rotary Club of Oak Park-River Forest and The Huskie Booster Club will provide the volunteer pourers to collect tips to support their non-profit.

KID’S ACTIVITIES.
New to this year’s event is kid’s musical show, Slinky Armadillo and Uncle Billy performing on stage Saturday from 12-1:30pm. The Root Beer Garden will anchor the family activity area on Marion Street on Saturday from 12-5pm Zucchini racing will offer the chance for kids to create and race their own zucchini cars. The children’s area will also feature Scales and Tales Traveling Zoo from 4-5pm, karaoke, root beer floats, games, and other activities by local organizations including Wonder Works, OPRF Cheerleaders and Lake Theatre.
