'To See a Thing Clearly: Exploring the Connection between Poetry and Journalism in Hemingway and Life' With PBS-TV Journalist and Poet Judith Valente
As a young writer Ernest Hemingway moved from poetry to journalism. His most
poetic writing matured into fiction. Still each form of writing continued to
inform his work. Judith Valente, a correspondent for national PBS-TV and former
staff writer for The Wall Street Journal, Washington Post and People magazine,
made the inverse journey -- from journalism to poetry. She will talk about how
both poetry and journalism intersect in Hemingway's writing, and her own, and
how we might begin to see the world through a poet-journalist's
eyes.
