Indie Label Picks Up Julian Student's Album

11-year-old rocker's music will be distributed by Chicago's Teen River Tapes.

Add cassette tapes to the many ways you can hear Daniel Fromberg's music.

Fromberg, an 11-year-old student at , recently released his self-titled debut album, making the 11-track compilation available for online streaming and download, and old-fashioned compact discs.

Now, it's getting picked up for release by Teen River Tapes, a cassette-only indie music label based in Chicago. According to the German music and culture blog No Fear of Pop, Teen River Tapes in "admirably low-profile yet also highly ambitious, aiming at putting out at least ten tapes each month (!) from fabulous exponents of the Chicago-based weirdo scene."

Robert Fromberg, Daniel's father, put it this way: "The label has some excellent, progressive artists, so he'll be in good company."

Back in the fall, we dropped in on Fromberg while he rehearsed at Sheaff Music. He was gracious enough to answer a few questions and play a tune from the album. .
