Music, Stories and Fun This Saturday at Unity Temple

Midwinter's Tales: Miracles and Mirth event on Saturday, Dec. 8 to support Walk-In Ministry and the Oak Park Festival Theatre.

Take in the warmth of the season tonight at Midwinter's Tales: Miracles and Mirth, the sixth co-benefit for the Oak Park River Forest Walk-In Ministry and the Oak Park Festival Theater.

The program will be at 7 p.m. At Unity Temple, 875 Lake St.

General admission is $20 for adults, $15 for folks 60 years of age and up and $15 for students.

This year's presentation is a celebration with words and music of the marvels and merriment of the season and features entirely new family-friendly material.

Selections are drawn from authors such as Lemony Snicket, Daniel Pinkwater, Paul Rudnick, Mike Royko, Frank McCourt, and Maya Angelou read by Festival Theatre favorites Jack Hickey and Kevin Theis, Walk-In MInistry volunteers and others.

Complementing the readings will be music by the Grace Episcopal Madrigal Singers, Ella Gill and Scott Daniel, Michael Swisher and others as well as a performance by dancers from the Maiden Street School of Irish Dance. The program is once again created and directed by Belinda Bremner.

Baskets to savor or share will be raffled off at the end of the evening.
