Oak Park Arts District's Last Call for Spring Festival Submissions

OPAD seeks late bloomers for Harrison Street art and music fest.

Believe it or not, spring is here.

Which means it's almost time for the Oak Park Arts District's "What's Blooming on Harrison Street" festival, scheduled for May 20 and May 21.

Festival organizers are putting out one last call for artists and business vendors. The participation fee is $75 or $50 for seniors over 60 years old.

Organizers say vendor tents can't be larger than 10 feet by 10 feet.

Those interested in setting up a booth are asked to contact Colleen Shannon at colleen@oakparkartsdistrict.com

The theme of the 2011 festival is "Discover Silver," and participants are encouraged to incorporate silver in their work or booths, but it's not a requirement.

On Friday, May 20 many galleries and businesses in the Arts District will stay open late.

On Saturday, between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m., patrons can enjoy an outdoor art show, live music and dance performances, a magic show and a cameo by a mime troupe.

That's right, a mime troupe.

The deadline to apply is April 7.
