Enrollment Up in Oak Park District 97

Fifth grade shows biggest jump, from 584 students in 2012-13 to 686 in 2013-14.

About two weeks into the 2013-14 school year, enrollment in Oak Park Elementary School District 97 is up 159 students from the 2012-13 year.

According to a report conducted by Ehlers & Associates, enrollment has grown about 9.5 percent in the last five years and about 15 percent since 2006, when the district's overall enrollment was 5,001. The enrollment in the 2012-13 school year was 5,750.

The overall enrollment, so far, for the 2013-14 school year is 5,909. 

The biggest increase will be at the middle school level, according to the report, where enrollments are projected to climb from 1,814 in FY 2013 to 2,047 in FY 2018, or about 12.8 percent. 

Fifth grade enrollment changed the most from the 2012-13 school year, jumping more than 100 students from 584 to 686 students enrolled.

Below is the breakdown of the district's overall enrollment by grade, and how the numbers compare to 2012-13:

  • Preschool: 175 (Up from 155 in 2012-13, including special education)
  • Kindergarten: 569 (Down from 624 in 2012-13)
  • 1st Grade: 662 (Up from 615 in 2012-13)
  • 2nd Grade: 640 (Up from 634 in 2012-13)
  • 3rd Grade: 659 (Down from 661 in 2012-13)
  • 4th Grade: 666 (Down from 663 in 2012-13)
  • 5th Grade: 686 (Up from 584 in 2012-13)
  • 6th Grade: 595 (Down from 604 in 2012-13)
  • 7th Grade: 627 (Up from 621 in 2012-13)
  • 8th Grade: 630 (Up from 589 in 2012-13)
