Man Tries to Run Over Ex-Girlfriend, Other Man in River Forest

Police said the man saw his ex-girlfriend leave the movies with another man, then followed the car and rammed into it until it lost control.

A Chicago man was charged with attempted murder in River Forest after he saw his ex-girlfriend leave the movies with another man, then proceeded to ram their car out of control.

River Forest police were called to a traffic accident Tuesday, June 25, at about 12:36 a.m.

Upon arrival, police observed bystanders restraining a man, now identified as Will O. Thomas, 21, of Chicago. Witnesses told police that Thomas was the driver of one of the cars involved in the crash, and he exited the vehicle.

Thomas then reportedly began hitting the female passenger of the other vehicle involved in the crash. An officer went to arrest Thomas, who began fighting with him and resisting arrest.

Further investigation revealed that Thomas followed his ex-girlfriend to a movie theater on North Avenue in Melrose Park. He saw his ex-girlfriend leaving the theater with another man, followed their car and yelled at the driver to pull over.

The other drive continued moving, at which point Thomas allegedly rammed into the car, causing it to lose control in the 7700 block of North Avenue.

Police said Thomas then turned around and tried to run over the man and his ex-girlfriend when they left the car, then began hitting the woman in the head and face.

Thomas was charged with two counts of attempted murder, two counts of aggravated battery, two counts of reckless conduct, domestic battery, resisting a police officer, reckless driving and other traffic offenses.

His bond was set at 10 percent of $300,000. He will have a July court date in Maybrook.
