Art on Harrison Celebrates 20 Years in Oak Park

Two days, nine blocks and one purpose: celebrate local business, art and culture. The annual Art on Harrison event is returning to Oak Park, and this year the number that matters most is 20.

The Oak Park Arts District is celebrating 20 years of the annual event, which features special events, galleries, live entertainment and lots more. 

On Friday, Sept. 20, there will be special events and artist receptions in the local galleries, shops and restaurants from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. The next day, there is art, music, food, dance and live demonstrations along the nine blocks west of Austin. Those events run from noon to 8 p.m. 

In addition to celebrating 20 years of Art on Harrison, a few of the Arts District businesses are celebrating anniversaries, according to OPAD spokeswoman Laurel Wolff. That includes Bead in Hand (20 years), Buzz Cafe (15 years) and Eastgate Cafe (5 years).
