Program Offers the Best to Forest Parkers

Village program promotes local shopping and business.

It could end up being one of the best buys Forest Park has to offer.

Forest Park BEST is an online resource that promotes local business and keeps folks who are enrolled in the loop on which shops around town have bargains.

What does BEST stand for? Buy, Eat, Shop, Think Local.

It was started a year ago as a way to get people to think local when they shop, Commissioner Tom Mannix said.

About 30 shops from thorughout the community are taking part, said Village Administrator Tim Gillian.

Here's how it works:

All folks have to do is sign up. They'll get a small card that will loop on their key ring and a wallet-sized card. All they have to do is check on line for the bargains, go to the shop, show the card and they'll be able to take advantage of the bargain, Mannix said.

And here are some of the deals that can be had for people who show their Forest Park BEST card:

  • Folks who buy one game of bowling at Circle Bowling Lanes will get one game free.
  • Diners at Cocina de Los Lobos will get a free soda, chips and salsa when they purchase an entree.
  • Molly Malone's is now offering Kid's Eat free every day until 7 p.m.
  • At Forest Agency Insurance, bring in your insurance policies for a free review and receive a gift when you mention the Forest Park BEST. Program.

"We want people to shop and spend money here," Mannix said. "It's good for the community; local businesses hire local people.

That all helps business thrive, Village Administrator Tim Gillian.
